The collection contains records relating to the Skidmore Department of Physical Education dated mostly from the 1960s to the 1980s. The materials are almost entirely loose paper records with some photographs and contain records such as tests given to students majoring in P.E., staff handbooks, brochures, and meeting minutes. The handbooks and the minutes take up the most space in the collection as they account for one full cubic foot. Other notable concentrations include senior group projects and spring sports workshops. There is another box holding felt P.E. flags and gym suites that has not been detailed in the finding aid but is kept with the paper records. Of potential related interest is the Margaret Paulding Papers, a smaller collection also held by the Skidmore College Archives containing the papers of one of the Chairs of the Physical Education Department.
Collection is open for research by appointment. Please contact the library's Special Collections department.
